On St. Anne's Day, just as the Christmas preparations are getting underway, the doors open to the Merchant Home's Christmas.
Experience the Christmas traditions and tales of the 19th century brought to life in the cozy, dimly lit ambiance of a historic merchant home. The parlor’s Christmas tree is adorned with period decorations and candles, tables overflow with traditional holiday treats ranging from braided wheat buns to truffles, the kitchen is filled with the scent of spices, and the dining room is set with a festive table complete with hyacinth arrangements. In the bedroom, the women of the household are busy with their julvaka (Christmas Eve preparations), while in the master’s study, a small nightcap (nattgotta) awaits for Christmas Eve.
Guided tours are free of charge and begin on the hour. Each tour accommodates up to 10 participants.
