Raahe Book And Record Fair

The Raahe Book and Record Fair, now with a history spanning more than ten years, showcases the diversity of literary arts in an engaging and accessible way. To celebrate the European Capital of Culture year, this autumn’s fair will also welcome international guests. The main fair day will take place on Saturday, 19 September, at Raahe City Library.

One of the event’s main guests is Swedish author Karin Smirnoff, whose hugely successful Jana Kippo trilogy has captivated readers of high-quality literary fiction. Other headline guests include the multi-award-winning translator Kristiina Drews and author Katja Kettu, known among other works for her breakthrough novel The Midwife (Kätilö, 2011). The musical side of the fair will be represented by J. A. Mäki, lead singer of the band Radiopuhelimet, and guitarist Jarno Mällinen.

During the event, there will be artist visits, theatre performances, film screenings related to literature, and a literary quiz. The week’s programme also includes a guided literary walking tour of Old Town Raahe, organised by Raahe’s tourist guides, and an Open Mic event. The fair is jointly coordinated by the Raahe Book Club, Raahe Cultural Services and Raahe City Library.

The event is part of the official programme of Oulu2026, the European Capital of Culture year.
